We need a fantastic Physical Therapist Assistant / PTA for an acute setting who will provide quality, compassionate care as prescribed by a licensed physical therapist in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Under the supervision of the Physical Therapist, you will implement the resident’s Care Plan for rehabilitation. The PTA assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The Physical Therapist Assistant administers medically prescribed therapy treatments in accordance with federal, state and professional standards governing the facility.


Position Summary/Essential Duties:
Assist in the treatment of residents as directed by the Physical Therapist and participate as an active member of facility’s rehabilitation team.

Provides treatment to residents as directed by the Physical Therapist.

Records treatments given in medical record. Instructs families and staff in maintenance programs as directed by the Physical Therapist.

Communicates with supervisor and other interdisciplinary team members regarding resident progress, problems, and plans.

Participates in resident-care conferences and weekly rehabilitation meetings.

Participates in facility in-service training programs.

Assists with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area and department.

Maintains resident confidence and protects nursing home operations by records, keeping information confidential.

Records daily treatment charges according to facility policy and procedures.

Protects resident and employee by adhering to infection control policies and protection protocols.

Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with facility and department procedure rules and regulations.

Provides community based services such as health and wellness activities as required.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Handle job responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, appropriate professional standard and applicable state/federal laws.

Complies with client company protocol for patient rounding.

Documents resident care services by charting in resident and department records according to accepted regulatory, corporate and professional guidelines.

Follow HIPAA protocols and adhere to facility infection control policies and protocols in all interactions to protect patients and facility

Ensure appropriate daily billing of services.

Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and establishing personal networks.

Complies with federal, state and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Maintain specified efficiency level as determined by supervisor.


Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications


Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) program culminating in an associate’s degree.

Current and valid state PTA license or equivalent in the states where services are rendered.

Must pass post-offer drug test and pass post-employment physical exam if required

Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance


Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information.

Must be able to relate professionally, positively, and cooperatively with residents, resident’s family members and other employees at all levels.

CPR certification (when required).

Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance / Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

Must possess problem-solving skills of the type and at a level necessary to accomplish the job.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy;

Experience: 0-2 years Minimum

Education: Graduation with an Associate’s Degree from an physical therapist assistant curriculum accredited jointly by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Physical Therapy Association.

Continuing Educ. / Training: All licenses, certificates, and other requirements listed above are required at the time of employment and must be maintained during the course of employment unless otherwise noted.

Certification/License: Possession of Board Certification from the National Board for Certification in Physical Therapy (NPTE) and Possession of a valid license to operate as a Certified Physical Therapist issued by the State Board of Physical Therapy.
