Duties
Planning, designing, developing, and integrating network systems consistent with existing or planned network infrastructures;
Developing new methods, approaches, and procedures;
Diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents;
Researching, evaluating, and providing feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements; and
Representing the office in interactions with other organizations and private contractors

Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Basic Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate they have IT-related experience in each of the four competencies listed below:
Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that you work until produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the government) to asses their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communications – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
You qua lify for the GS-11 grade level if you posses one of the following:
One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent performing duties such as performing setup of personal computers, laptops, devices, and installing, configuring, and maintaining database systems; creating project technical documentation for software development initiatives; OR
Completed all the requirements for PH.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a PH.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a accredited college or university; OR
A combination of successfully completed graduate level education in excess of two years and required experience as described above, that totals at least one year.
Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from a accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation or applications, systems or networks.
Education to be substituted or combined must demonstrate the skills needed to work. One year of full time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 54 semester or 81 quarter hours should be considered as satisfying the three years for the GS-11.
You qualify at the GS-12 level if you posse one year of the specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent performing duties such as:
Diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents;
Providing network services that support the office’s line and administrative programs responsibilities; and
Providing advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of complex IT issues.
Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.
