Medical Scheduler - Desert AIDS Project - Palm Springs, CA

Works to maintain and promote D.A.P. mission statement working with other D.A.P. departments for continuity of care with agency clients.
  • Answer all incoming phone calls for Health Center Scheduling

  • Responsible for scheduling all new assessments, returning patients, rescheduling and follow up appointments.

  • Responsible of obtaining medical records for all new patients.

  • Work one on one with HIM for tracking new patients medical records

  • Work with the Referral Department for all new patients referrals

  • Work closely with the billing assistant for all incoming new assessments

  • Maintain recognized medical industry standards of high quality, client-centered services which are HIPAA compliant

  • Provide superior customer service to all patients.

  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Training, Experience:

  • Associate of Arts/Associate Science Degree preferred. On the job medical office experience can substitute for degree;

  • Minimum five years experiences in medical office operations;

  • Knowledge of EHR required;

  • Computer expertise (word processing and database input);

  • Excellent and effective communication skills, both written and oral;

  • Excellent customer service skills required;

  • Bilingual – English / Spanish required.

Ability to:

  • Relate to all types of individuals in a non-judgmental and professional way;

  • Work efficiently and accurately in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities;

  • Interface effectively in a team environment with patients, agency staff and volunteers;

  • Handle crisis and stressful situations in a calm and respectful manner.

  • Must be able to multi task;

  • Must work well under pressure.

5. Attend required Building Connections Workshop during initial orientation process.


6. Understand the goals, philosophy, key concepts, and process of Building Connections to ensure quality of services.


7. Learn how you are responsible for implementing the Building Connections process in your assigned job duties.


8. Continue to attend Building Connections refresher workshops and Camp Build Con Retreat on an annual basis.
