Self Storage Assistant - Self Storage Company - Thousand Palms, CA

Self Storage facility in Thousand Palms seeks part-time employee to assist the store.

SUMMARY
Self Storage staff are responsible for contributing to the overall operation of the storage facility. They act as customer service representatives, lease storage units or parking spaces, market the property to the community, collect past-due accounts, banking, enter data, file and perform light maintenance of the property.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Pass a pre-employment drug screen and have acceptable results of a background check


• Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally


• Minimum 2 years previous experience in Customer Service or Sales (hospitality or food service experience are a plus)


• Demonstrate effective customer service skills on telephone and in person


• Have recent computer experience (preferably MS Office and/or self-storage software)


• Must maintain valid driver license and car insurance

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Office Tasks

• Provide excellent customer service


• Professionally greet walk-in and telephone customers


• Rent storage units by completing leases with customers


• Collect rent payments and accurately enter data into computer


• Deposit funds to employer account on a schedule set by supervisor


• Participate in daily collection calls for past-due accounts and enter notes into computer


• Maintain electronic data & paper files

Property Tasks

• Show storage unit samples to customers


• Conduct unit audits to ensure security and accurate occupancy information

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

• Clean and prepare vacant storage units for rent


• Perform daily security check of facility (lock check/audit)


• Perform minor maintenance & custodial duties including cleaning and preparing units for rent


• Conduct marketing tasks in local area


• Maintain a professional personal appearance


• Enforce any rules governing the property


• Effectively resolve customer/tenant problems in a timely manner


• Complete and submit company forms and reports accurately and timely


• Coordinate or maintain clean, orderly office and restroom and, if applicable, keep merchandise stocked

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Sit or stand for up to 8 hours per day


• Ability to traverse entire property for audit, lock removal or tour purposes


• Ability to bend, twist and lift


• Ability to frequently lift or move up to 25 lbs of pressure; occasionally lift or move up to 40 lbs of pressure
