Patient Care Technician - Loma Linda University Medical Center - Murrieta - Riverside County, CA





Job Summary :

The Patient Care Technician is a multi-faceted position incorporating the roles of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Nursing Unit Secretary (NUS) and Telemetry Technician (TT). Provides and documents care to patients under the direction of the RN, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and confidential environment. Completes order/data entry into the electronic medical record (EMR) as applicable. Records and calculates all necessary parameters (i.e. patient intake/output, vital signs); interprets EKG tracings for diagnostic purposes; monitor and integrate cardiac rhythms as appropriate. Acts as a member of the health care team at all times to ensure appropriate resources to all internal/external customers; maintain secure and trusting environment, ensuring the customer’s right to privacy and dignity. Provides safe, cost effective, competent, age and population specific, culturally sensitive, direct, basic patient care throughout hospitalization and in preparation for discharge according to established hospital and professional standards, and is responsible and accountable for this care. Performs other duties as needed.

Job Specifications :

Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent required. Eligibility to obtain licensure (or proof of training) for Certified Nurse Assistant Certification in the State of California. Or proof of satisfactory completion of Fundamentals of Nursing for RN or LVN. Or a minimum of 6 months experienced as a Certified Nurse Assistant in area of specialty or an appropriate equivalent preferred. Minimum of six months experience as Nursing Unit Secretary or related field required. Minimum of six months experience as Telemetry Tech or related field required. Proof of completion of basic rhythm analysis course or an appropriate equivalent. Successful completion of LLUMC-Murrieta EKG competency test within 90 days of employment.


Licensure, Certification, or Registration: CNA–Certified Nursing Assistant preferred, Current BLS for Health Care Providers (American Heart Association) required.
