Cancer Registrar I - Cancer Information Management - Eisenhower Medical Center - Rancho Mirage, CA





Job Objective: A brief overview of the position. This position is responsible for maintaining current case finding and suspension of reportable cancer cases in multiple hospital systems according to American College of Surgeons (ACOS) and California Cancer Registry reporting standards. Reports to Cancer Data Manager Supervises N/A Ages of Patients N/A Blood Borne Pathogens Minimal/ No Potential Qualifications Education Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Allied Health Field Required: College level Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Terminology Courses Licensure/Certification Required: NCRA Tumor Registrar certification required within 3 years of hire or within 3 testing attempts, whichever is sooner. Preferred: Certified Tumor Registrar or Licensure/Certification in Allied Health Field Experience Required: Hospital, Physician Office or Cancer related experience Preferred: Cancer Registry experience Specific Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Required Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of fax, copier and printer use.

Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with public, hospital staff, medical office staff and physicians. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology Strong organization skills and able to effectively multi-task Ability to preserve confidentiality and security of patient data. Team player that is able to work independently Ability to prioritize work and accurately complete assignments in a timely manner. General knowledge of cancer disease terminology and disease process.
