Distribution Operator Trainee

$3540 – $4835 monthly

OR

Distribution Operator I

$3891 – $5287 monthly

Distribution Operator II

$4245 – $5780 monthly

This posting will be used to create an eligibility list that will be used to fill upcoming openings.


DEFINITION: Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and unskilled duties in the maintenance and construction of District domestic production and distribution, pipelines and structures, and to do related work as required.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Works as a member of a construction and maintenance crew and perform maintenance labor involving District production, distribution, pipelines and structures.


Performs pick and shovel work, digging, widening and backfilling trenches and other excavations.


Assists in laying pipelines, performing pump and valve maintenance and concrete work.


Positions hydrants in place and connects them to main lines.


Paints and performs preventive maintenance on equipment related to domestic water production and distribution.


Washes, cleans and assists with minor maintenance on equipment and structures at domestic facilities.


Operates hand tools, power tools, and air tools such as jackhammers and spades, in accordance with District safety procedures. Occasionally operates power and automotive equipment such as earth compactors.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
License: Valid California Operators license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles. Class A Driver”s License Preferred.


Experience and Certifications:
Distribution Operator Trainee – Any combination of training or experience that will fulfill the essential functions of the position. Trainee will be required to obtain a Distribution Grade I certification issued by the Department of Health Services within 24 months of appointment.


Distribution Operator I – A typical way would be to have one year experience as a Distribution Utility Worker I and Must have Distribution Grade I certification issued by the Department of Health Services.


Distribution Operator II requires Distribution Grade II certification and a Class A license.
