Medication Safety Officer (Pharmacist) - Pharmacy - Eisenhower Medical Center - Rancho Mirage, CA





Job Objective:
  • Works under the supervision of Director of Pharmacy Services. Has 24-hour responsibility for the compliance with corporate and hospital policies and procedures and compliance with State and Federal regulations regarding Pharmacy practices. Assists in the development and maintenance of all professional, dispensing, and manufacturing policies and procedures and/or activities for the Inpatient Pharmacy to comply with all regulatory requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports to:

  • Director – Pharmacy Services

Supervises:

  • Inpatient Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technician II

Ages of Patients:

  • Neonate/ Infant

  • Pediatric

  • Adolescent

  • Adult

  • Geriatric

Blood Borne Pathogens:
Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Required: Pharmacy Degree from accredited school of Pharmacy


  • Licensure/Certification
    • Required: California Board of Pharmacy License


  • Experience
    • Preferred: Three years of hospital pharmacy experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience


Specific Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Required:

  • Ability to read and understand English.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to apply current principles of pharmacology and pharmacokinetics in the interpretation, filling, and dispensing of medications based on the age-specific needs of EMC’s patient population.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to problem solve while recognizing various factors in decision making process.

  • Ability to instruct and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.

  • Excellent understanding of computer systems for pharmacy services.
