Certified Medical Assistant - Contour Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Center - Rancho Mirage, CA






POSITION: Certified Medical Assistant
REPORTS TO: Back Office Supervisor / Physician / Executive Director
SCHEDULE : Monday through Sunday availability
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • High School Diploma

  • Medical Assistant Certificate

  • Certified Medical Assistant — CCBMA or equivalent

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures

  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications

  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices

  • Computer literate (Microsoft Word and Excel)

GENERAL PURPOSE: To perform Medical Assistant activities and assisting in proper functioning of office and patient care in all three locations.


JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart

  • Perform nursing procedures under supervision of physician or physician assistant

  • Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms

  • Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or physician assistant, review medications

  • Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment.

  • Ensure all notes are completed and codes are merged

  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Nurses Station

  • Perform one week follow up calls and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls

  • Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants

  • Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)

  • Manage photo manager and sort pictures correctly

  • Complete all assigned tasks throughout the work day: Taking photos of both cosmetic and medical patients, update charting, biopsies, and medical history

  • Properly document in patient charts physical exam and plan per provider, properly send prescriptions through E-RX

  • Contacting patient pre and post procedure (cosmetic)

  • Prepare set-up for procedures: cosmetic and medical

  • Educate Patients on Products and achieve sale

  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential

  • Abiding by all HIPAA rules and regulations as put in place by Contour Dermatology

  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow

  • The ability to administer injections

REQUIRED FUNCTIONS:


  • Ability to work at all Contour Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Center locations

  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks (i.e. – going into patient rooms).

  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

  • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
