EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma


• 2+ Years in Medical Practice


• _Medical Receptionist Experience Preferred

• Customer Service Experience


• Training and Experience in ICD-10


• CPC or equivalent coding certification preferred

GENERAL PURPOSE: This position is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage to ensure visits are covered by an individual’s insurance carrier. As well as, entering primary and secondary insurance data in an accurate manner, verify that existing information is accurate and to update patient benefit information.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducts a complete benefits investigation to ensure a patient has valid coverage


• Updates patient’s chart appropriately.


• Work with insurance companies to resolve issues and counsel patients on fees and charges. Collect and receive payments and apply them to the patient accounts


• Determines copay and deductible responsibility


• Initiates Prior Authorizations as required


• Places outbound calls to patients to obtain additional information needed to process the insurance, to provide status update, and/or according to timeline


• Takes inbound calls relating to insurance questions from patients, clients, physicians, practitioners and clinics regarding inquiries about services provided, financial responsibility.


• Communicate with patients in office who have questions about treatment costs, forms, and insurance related questions.


• Provides prompt and accurate information to external and internal customers and ensures client satisfaction.


• Perform other billing duties as assigned.

• Have a strong knowledge of services offered by all of our providers for both cosmetic and medical


• Have a strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, codes, and products


• Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette


• Strong Knowledge of insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid.


• Must have knowledge of state and federal laws regarding patient medical records privacy and confidentiality including Federal HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
