Distribution Riser Field Inspector II - Southern California Gas Company - Palm Desert, CA

Provide operating and technical knowledge to one or multiple project teams for the evaluation of, and resolution to, technical problems, involving various disciplines. Evaluate job request to determine purpose, scope and requirements. May include the assessment of alternative methods, assessment of outside support requirements, and review of Company FCD or regulatory codes.· Gather data, perform tests and prepare designs to develop technically sound findings, conclusions and recommendations. Follow up on implementation of recommendations and/or acceptance of conclusions to assess accuracy and/or completeness.· Coordinate all activities leading to the successful completion of tasks including; cooping, selection of consultants, contractors and/or laboratories, cost estimates, budgeting, design, testing and start-up. Coordinate input from and participation with other engineers and technical specialists within the work group. Monitor established budget and schedule, and provide timely status reports to the client.· Participate in the development of Company standards, specifications and procedures governing selection, design, application and operation of materials, components and systems, which meet Company needs on a long term basis and with optimum economic consideration.· Interpret state and federal codes, industry standards and Company specifications, and provide input as needed.· Stay current with trends and advancements in the industry.

External Qualifications:

Good project managing and planning skills to be effective in coordinating activities that have financial impact ranging from thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars.· Must be innovative in finding solutions to operational and technical problems.· Good Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with other departments.· Good communications skills both written and oral.· Knowledge of basic engineering practices and concepts.· Ability to utilize engineering/technical principles to analyze and resolve problems.

A.S. degree in a technical discipline is desirable, or hands on experience.
