Riverside County’s Temporary Assignment Program is committed to providing the highest level of customer service as we respond to the County of Riverside’s temporary staffing needs.
Our in-house temporary employment program conducts business similar to a temporary staffing agency. Some of the services the Temporary Assignment Program offers include: recruitment, physical examination including drug/alcohol screening, skills testing, a background check, interviews and a customized orientation. Recruiting qualified applicants and meeting our client’s staffing needs are our top priority. A wide variety of temporary assignments are available to qualified applicants who meet the County’s requirements.

Under general supervision, to maintain an assigned building area in a clean and orderly condition; and to do other work as required.
This is the working level class in the Custodial series, and requires the ability to learn the work and perform it dependably without close supervision.
Sweeps, dusts, strips, seals, wet mops, waxes, and polishes floors; vacuums and shampoos rugs.
Washes windows, walls, and restrooms; empties and cleans ash trays, waste receptacles, kick buckets, and takes trash to disposal area.
Cleans light fixtures, replaces light bulbs and fluorescent tubes; dusts and polishes woodwork, desks, shelves, bright work, and tables.
Cleans restrooms and replenishes toilet paper and soap.
May move furniture or equipment; mixes disinfectant solutions; burns trash and cleans incinerators.
Observes, checks, and reports unauthorized personnel in and around buildings.
May drive light truck to collect trash; may secure building and area after cleanup; may relieve watchman.
Ability to: Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; learn the methods of cleaning and caring for buildings and equipment; understand and follow oral and written directions; work cooperatively with others.
Required Skills:
License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required for these positions in this class.
A successful Security Clearance conducted by the Sheriffs’ Department may be required for these positions.

Required Probationary Period – As an Approved Local Merit System, the County of Riverside requires all new regular or seasonal employees to serve an initial probationary period, the duration of which is indicated in the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, County Resolution, or Salary Ordinance. Temporary and Per Diem employees serve at the pleasure of the agency/department head.

****CURRENT COUNTY EMPLOYEES MUST USE THEIR EMPLOYEE SELF SERVICE ACCOUNT TO APPLY.****
For the first 1,000 hours of work in a fiscal year, the employee is enrolled in and contributes to the County Temporary/Part-Time Employees’ Retirement Plan, which is a 401(a) defined benefit pension plan. The County also contributes to the 401(a) on behalf of the employee.
During this time, neither the employee nor the County pays into Social Security, and the employee is not enrolled in CalPERS. After 1,000 hours of work in any fiscal year, the employee and County stop contributing to the 401(a) and begin to pay into Social Security. The employee is also enrolled in CalPERS and begins to make contributions.
Please note that temporary assignment hourly rates are approximately 5.5% less than the posted pay rate range listed in the general County of Riverside job descriptions
