Driver - RM - Braille Institute of America, Inc. - Rancho Mirage, CA

Braille Institute of America, Inc. is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to eliminate blindness and severe sight loss as a barrier to the fulfillment of life. Through educational training, programs and services, Braille Institute helps people regain and maintain their independence through five regional centers (Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Orange County, Rancho Mirage, and San Diego) and through more than 135 community outreach programs.

We currently are seeking a full-time Driver for our Rancho Mirage Regional Center. This position will be responsible for:

• Transport students, staff and other people as necessary from the regional center and back and designated points on assigned routes:


• Maintain cleanliness of vehicles;


• Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles for proper operation, safety and fuel level;


• Maintain transportation records and lists of daily routes;


• In the event of an emergency make sure procedures are followed;


• Provide assistance with classroom and special event set-ups;


• Provide general maintenance assistance as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must have at least one (1) year experience operating public vehicles;


• Must possess good customer service skills and be able to communicate effectively both written and verbal;


• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision;


• Class B driving license, clean driving record; CPR & First Aid certified;


• Current Medical Card;


• Must be able to assist people with various disabilities in a professional manner.
