FT Packaging Operator - The Desert Sun - Palm Springs, CA - Palm Springs, CA

Gannett Publishing Services, part of The USA Today Network, has an opening for a PT Packaging Operator position at The Desert Sun, Palm Springs. A Machine Operator works with the Packaging Manager and Supervisor in the day-to-day operation of the Packaging Center to ensure: integrity, accuracy and timliness of producing bundled newspapers and newspaper sections with advertising pieces inserted.

• Set-up and operations of all packaging and related equipment
  


• Perform supervisory functions, direct crews and shifts and meet department objectives in the absence of the supervisor or manager
  


• Maintain and repair equipment used in inserting, bundling, conveyors, tying and finishing newspaper packages and products
  


• Maintain and promote safety in the workplace; take corrective action when appropriate.
  


• Assist with training staff including operators and inserters
  


• Prepare and communicate work and staff schedules when necessary
