Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Information Systems Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive customer service while supporting fellow colleagues
- Demonstrate Fairmont core values in all interactions
- Manage all operations of the technical sales business in the hotel and identify and develop potential revenue streams to meet sales targets
- Ensure profitability of the technical sales department and development of relationships with current and potential clients
- In conjunction with the Sales and/or Catering and Conference services teams, meet with clients to ascertain event technical needs and budget, produce quote as per brief within budget whilst upselling products and services of the department
- Function as the central point of contact for all technical queries, including overseeing the pre-production, installation and de-rigging of technical equipment
- Assist with managing all aspects colleague performance ensuring individual and team accountability achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results
- Manage contractor and vendor relations and ensure work performance meets Fairmont standards
- Provide training and mentorship to the sales and technical team
- Assist all hotel departments by managing all equipment and setup requests in a timely manner
- Resolve guest concerns in a prompt and efficient manner, follow correct documentation procedures and ensure managers and relevant departments are notified in a timely manner
- Follow and ensure compliance with all corporate, hotel and departmental policies and procedures
- Participate in hotel committees
- Perform any other function related duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years international On-Site Venue Management experience preferably within a multi property background along with 3 years experience in direct sales management, events and event technology
- Experience in sound, video, lighting and stage design
- Production of Health & Safety as well as Risk Assessment documentation
- Degree level education or relevant years experience
- Proven ability to meet high levels of service excellence in a demanding and fast paced environment
- Proven ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Proven ability to work cohesively as part of a team in a multi cultural, diverse environment
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, technical and general administration skills
- Competency in Windows OS and MS Office with experience in Mac OS and related programs
- Good knowledge of general IT connectivity and LAN networks
- Competency in MS Office suites of programmes
- Strong work ethic, highly responsible, reliable and the ability to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays is required
Visa Requirements: Non-Bermudian candidates will need to qualify for a Bermuda Department of Immigration work permit applied for by the Fairmont Southampton Hotel.
